Great Escape’s Tim Gibbs @ The Museum

“Great Escape” stunt rider and 1962 ISDT team member Tim Gibbs visited the museum this week from his home in New Zealand

Tim is best known for the “sliding under the wire” scene where a wire was strung across the road to catch the German Wehrmacht motorcyclist.

A colleague and team mate of both Steve McQueen & Bud Ekins, Tim Gibbs shared the stunt work with his two better known counterparts.

Tim was visiting the UK as part of the 75th anniversary of the actual event where allied soldiers escaped from German POW camp Stalag Luft III.
