Our unique collection of 750cc BSA and Triumph three-cylinder factory racers formed a substantial part of a special display at the recent Stafford Classic MotorCycle Show. To mark the 40th anniversary of the all-conquering triples’ 1970 track debut, former Beezumph Rally organiser Tony Page and Trident & Rocket 3 OC official Malcolm Preston assembled a superb line-up of period racing machines.
Also present were several important figures of the triples’ era, including factory riders Alex George, John Cooper, Percy Tait and Tom Dickie.
Other historic triples at the event included Ron Chandler’s ex-Jim Rice BSA and his 1973 Rouen F750 race-winning BSA, plus machines of the BeeBee Bros equipe. Several were started up, their open pipes making a sound enjoying by the thousands of showgoers.
“I am extremely grateful to all those who let us borrow their machines, especially the National Motorcycle Museum who gave us the pick of the crop,” organiser Tony Page said.
