Below you will find an appeal from a Ukrainian journalist and academic researcher from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, whom Museum Director James has worked with in the past. The lady in question is named Kanykei Tursunbaeva and her e-mail is published exactly as received.
Dear James,
I hope all is well. Sorry for appearing out of nowhere but the situation is critical, I am reaching out to ask for help. We have found ourselves involuntarily in the war in Ukraine. Not planning to evacuate, we will stay here and protect ourselves and our institutes.
I am learning first aid night and day, other colleagues of mine are training in even more high responsible skills. We are buying protective gear that we can from Europe, but we still don’t have enough for everyone, there are about 15 of our people that urgently need bulletproof vests and medical kits.
One of our friends from the Academy has created a fundraiser for us. Please support us if you can in these difficult times:…/keep-ukrainian-scholars-and…
Never even thought I would be in this position but because it is about close people to me, I am doing all I can. There is no small or big help, anything can make a difference and save one of our lives. Thank you in any case, we warmly cherish the great talk about motorcycles we had with you.
Thank you,
