Product Description

In the book ‘The Mint’ written by T.E. Lawrence [Lawrence of Arabia] and published in 1955, he describes in beautiful prose how rode his ‘Brought Superior’ down the road to Lincoln and, along the way one of the aircraft from the airfield at which he was based, flew down low and challenged him to race, he took the challenge and won. His writing is so descriptive it provided most of the details Roy required to put together this oil painting. Realising he required specific details of his bike etc, Roy contacted ‘The Lawrence Society’ and a very helpful lady, [Khinlin Fern] supplied him with information about the machine, his uniform, and the specific aircraft.
