BONHAMS TO HOST CELEBRATION OF WOMEN IN MOTORING

JAMIE CHADWICK, MARIA COSTELLO, ELSPETH BEARD AND AMY SHORE TO SPEAK ON 29 NOVEMBER

On Thursday 29 November, Bonhams is hosting an event that will champion successful women in the world of motoring and motorsport. The event is free for all to attend and will take place among the classic and supercars consigned for the annual Bond Street Sale. The event will include a panel discussion and Q+A session with some of the most influential and successful women in motoring, and has been organised to show the diverse range of options open to young women who wish to pursue a career or hobby in the motoring sector.

Jamie Chadwick is the first ever female and youngest winner of the British GT Championship, and recently became the first female driver in history to win a Formula 3 Championship.Elspeth Beard was the first British woman in history to ride around the world on a motorcycle, a trip which she performed largely alone. Her book Lone Rider tells the story of her adventures (and misadventures) on her journey. Amy Shore is a celebrated automotive photographer and the youngest ever UK Nikon ambassador. Maria Costello MBE has held the Guinness World Record for being the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, was the first woman to ever reach the podium in any Isle of Man motorcycling race and has recently been elected as the first ever female president of the TTRA.

Poppy McKenzie Smith, one of the event organisers and motoring press officer for Bonhams, commented: ‘We have organised this event to showcase the huge variety of options open to women with an interest in motoring. We want to encourage young women to pursue motoring and motorsport as a hobby or a career, and hope that the diverse experiences of Amy, Elspeth, Jamie and Maria will help demystify the roles that women can play in this vast and fascinating industry.’

Spaces are limited, so to register to attend this free event, please get in touch with Poppy atpoppy.mckenziesmith@bonhams.com or phone on 0207 468 8363. Drinks and canapés will be served from 6pm at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Steet, and the discussion panel will begin at 7pm.
