Supporting the Biking Community
The National Motorcycle Museum is proud to support Mental Health Motorbike, a charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing of the UK’s biking community through free face-to-face and online mental health support.

Founded in 2020, the charity now has more than 30 regions across the UK, providing one-to-one support, peer groups, events, training and wellbeing initiatives. Their mission is simple: to ensure that no biker has to face life’s challenges alone.
Relay Riders Visits the Museum
Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Mental Health Motorbike to the National Motorcycle Museum as part of the Relay Riders UK Teddy Bear Relay.

The annual relay sees a teddy bear travel thousands of miles across the UK, passed from rider to rider to raise awareness and funds for a chosen charity. This year, the relay is supporting Mental Health Motorbike and its important work to improve mental wellbeing and help reduce suicide within the biking community.
The Museum was proud to play a small part in the journey by hosting one of the relay handovers, bringing together riders who share a passion for motorcycling and supporting one another.
A Friendly Face at the Museum
The National Motorcycle Museum is also proud to host one of Mental Health Motorbike’s monthly wellbeing hubs on the first Sunday of every month.
Visitors are invited to drop in for a cup of tea, a chat and support in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Whether someone is looking for advice, a friendly conversation or simply wants to meet fellow bikers, everyone is welcome.
One of the things that makes the charity so special is its volunteers. Many proudly display the Mental Health Motorbike logo on their helmets, jackets and motorcycles, making them easy to recognise at bike meets and events. These visible symbols often spark conversations, giving fellow riders the confidence to stop, say hello and talk if they need to.

Supporting Riders at Events
Mental Health Motorbike is a familiar presence at many of the UK’s biggest motorcycle events. At shows such as Motorcycle Live, volunteers provide a wellbeing hub where visitors can take a moment away from the crowds, plan their visit or simply have a quiet chat if they’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
We’re delighted that the charity will also be joining us at Museum LIVE this October, where they’ll once again be offering a welcoming space for anyone who needs it.
Working Together
As part of our partnership, four members of the National Motorcycle Museum management team including Museum Director James Hewing and Museum Shop Manager Claire Hartland have completed Mental Health First Aid training delivered by Mental Health Motorbike, helping us better recognise when someone may need support and how to guide them towards appropriate help.
Motorcycling has always been about community, friendship and looking out for one another. By working alongside Mental Health Motorbike, we’re proud to help raise awareness of mental health, encourage more open conversations and support a charity that is making a real difference to the lives of bikers across the UK.
