Classic bike tour & workshop training day

Last year saw the National Motorcycle Museum launch the most exciting and innovative membership scheme ever undertaken by a Museum or similar organisation.

One of the most important aspects of the new National Motorcycle Museum friend’s scheme is giving its members the chance to take part in some unique activities that just wouldn’t be possible otherwise. Some of this unique content includes the Museum’s “Classic Bike Tours” & “Workshop Training Days”, both of which took place for the first time recently.

NMM Friend’s Classic Bike Tour.

Sunday 19/04/1classic-bike-tours-main5 saw Museum friends scheme members having the opportunity to ride some of the most exciting and valuable classic motorcycles from the Museum’s inventory. Those taking part received an induction and “off road” training before being escorted by ex-police motorcyclists around the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. Riding via Henley in Arden in the morning and Stratford upon Avon in the afternoon, five riders enjoyed various exotic machinery including a Brough Superior SS100, Vincent Black Shadow and a BSA Rocket Goldstar! Each class of machine attracts a different “hire” fee which includes insurance cover and lunch in the Museum restaurant. The Museum plans to offer between four and six of these exciting days to Museum friend’s scheme members every year.

NMM Friend’s Museum Workshop Training Day.

Saturdayworkshop-training-main 02/05/15 was the date when 40 friends of the Museum attended the first Museum workshop training day which was held in the Manxman suite at the Museum.

Hosted by the Museum restoration team the day was entitled “hints & tips on restoring a Museum bike” & was split into morning and afternoon sessions. The day offered the chance to learn some “tricks of the trade” as regards motorcycle restoration and also included lots of interesting anecdotes & stories from the highly experienced workshop team. Museum workshop days are free of charge to friends of the Museum as part of their membership.

More workshop training days on various maintenance topics will be offered to Museum friend’s scheme members during the year.

Both of the above events have their own dedicated promotional videos which can be found on the Museum’s social media platforms: facebook.com/thenmm or youtube.com/TheNMMUK
