Coronavirus (COVID-19)

COVID-19 Museum Reopening Plans and Urgent Appeal Update

All the team here at the museum want to thank everyone who has given to our first Covid-19 raffle which ran from July to Dec 2020.  As promised, following the recent announcement of HM Government’s “roadmap” out of restrictions, the funds raised are being used directly for the purpose of reopening the museum to visitors.

INITIAL OPENING FROM MAY 2021.

Restrictions permitting, the museum collection, shop and restaurant will reopen on Monday 17th May 2021.

HELP US TO RETURN TO NORMAL 7 DAY OPENING.

Whilst the funds raised so far will allow us to reopen in a limited way on 17/05/21, as of March 2021 we have still only raised just over half of our original £500k reopening target.

As from Monday 21st June 2021, we would like to return to our normal 7 day a week opening hours, and therefore are undertaking a further ‘Museum Triumph Over Adversity Recovery Appeal Raffle’, details of which can be seen below.

This further appeal has extra significance given the fact that the museum has recently received the devastating news that we have been turned down for a grant from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

In late 2020 we received an e-mail from the Heritage Lottery Fund (who are partly responsible for administering the scheme) that our application “did not meet the criteria for the programme, and the board has decided not to award a grant through the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage”.

triumph-logoWe cannot begin to describe what a blow this news was, and adds even more importance to our new appeal which gives the chance to win one of three stunning Triumph motorcycles.

Very special thanks must go to our friends at Triumph Motorcycles for donating the brand new Triumph Trident as a first prize. Along with everyone that has contributed by purchasing a raffle ticket in the past, or given to our appeal fund, Triumph Motorcycles have supported us when the Government’s DCMS (Department of Culture, Media and Sport) would not.

Please revisit this page regularly for further reopening updates including our initial opening hours.
