Footman James announces new partnership with The National Motorcycle Museum

One of the UK’s leading classic car insurance brokers has announced a new partnership with the world’s largest motorcycle museum.

Footman James is now the exclusive insurance partner to The National Motorcycle Museum, based in Solihull in the West Midlands.

The scheme includes sponsorship of The National Motorcycle Museum’s race team, specifically Northern Irish motorcycle road racer William Dunlop riding an ex-works Crighton Norton Rotary in the F1 race at this year’s classic TT; a special ‘Footman James Hall’ at the Museum as well as a presence throughout; acting as the Museum’s partner at The Isle of Man Classic TT in August where the Museum will be providing ex-works Norton Rotary race machines for a dedicated parade on Saturday 29 August. The paddock at this year’s Classic TT will also feature a ‘pop up’ museum showcasing 30 machines from the Museum’s inventory.

A dedicated Footman James professional will also support and liaise with the museum offering networking opportunities.

The National Motorcycle Museum opened its doors in October 1984, with a collection of more than 350 motorcycles on display and soon started to attract many of the county’s most famous and important machines.  The largest motorcycle museum in the world, it now attracts around 250,000 visitors a year.  One of the biggest attractions for many visitors is the comprehensive cross-section of machines, spanning The 60 Glorious Years of motorcycle manufacturing in the UK; the Museum’s aim is to preserve these pieces of history for future generations to come as a reminder of the UK’s industry, engineering prowess and work ethic.  Within the five exhibition halls there are more than 850 machines, fully restored to the manufacturers’ original specifications.  The National Motorcycle Museum has developed into a focal point for the British motorcycle movement.

Footman James has a long and well established relationship with The National Motorcycle Museum and insures its entire collection of motorcycles – the biggest collection in the world.

David Bond, Footman James’ Director said: “We look forward to further developing a close working relationship with The National Motorcycle Museum and ensuring that our presence in the motorcycle insurance industry benefits keen riders and their bikes.”

James Hewing, Director at The National Motorcycle Museum said: “We are really pleased to be entering into this partnership with Footman James in 2015.  Teaming up with such an industry stalwart is part of our strategic vision to bring mutually beneficial services and assistance to bike enthusiasts.”
